Who we are and who we aren't

The Connecticut Minutemen are a pro Constitutional Organization providing awareness about the unorganized militia under the Second Amendment in the state of Connecticut. We are Patriots from all walks of life and we love this country.  We are what our founding fathers envisioned.  Free men and women who stand together against tyranny and oppression.  We care not about race, sexual orientation, religious beliefs or national origin.   We DO NOT and WILL NOT tolerate hate, racism, talks or acts of violence or terrorism of any kind!  The only requirement we have to join is that you love this republic and pledge to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) with the help of the mainstream media spread lies and misinformation about the militia to the American public.  They say we are fringe, racists, right wing extremists and anti government.  Such ridiculous propaganda could not be further from the truth!  We are your everyday law abiding citizens.  Your friends and neighbors.  Your mechanics, construction workers, accountants, nurses, police officers, fire fighters, and store owners.  Your fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters.

The Second Amendment of the Bill of rights is the one of the most if not the most important of all the amendments.  It is the teeth of the American people.  The founding fathers were very smart men.  They knew that men could not be trusted and that one day the government of this great nation they fought and bled to create could become tyrannical.  The Second Amendment was put there to empower We The People to keep our government in check.  George Mason stated

"I ask, who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers. But I cannot say who will be the militia of the future day."

The militia was and is the people.  During the Revolutionary War every able bodied man between the ages of 18 and 45 was required to serve in the militia.  But many others volunteered.  The term "well regulated militia" means a well armed, organized and disciplined militia.  "Being necessary the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."  The militia was and still is necessary to the security of the states.  To stop insurrections and to keep our government from becoming tyrannical.  This was why the 2nd Amendment was written.  It is the people's right and duty to form militias and because of this right reaffirmed by our Constitution, our right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.  It is the most cut and dry of all the amendments.  If it were not for the unorganized militia, we would still be under British rule today.  The unorganized militia of 1775 was made up of everyday citizens

just as it is today.  The farmers, blacksmiths, silversmiths, and shop keepers.  You are the militia.
