The Connecticut Minuteman advocate preparedness and being self sufficient and require that our members take at least basic steps to be more prepared. Water filtration, storeable and renewable food sources, medical supplies, hygiene products, alternate power sources, and alternate communications are just a few important categories to work on. With natural disasters and the state of our economy being prepared is extremely important to ensure your family's survival and help out your neighbors.
A great place to get food is at LDS canneries. The closest one to Connecticut is in Worcester Mass. You can buy bulk sacks or can your own dry food staples in #10 cans. They sell everything to you at cost!! They are only open Thursdays and Saturdays 9:00-4:00 and you have to call in advance to set an appointment. The best time to go is at the beginning of the month because that is when they restock. If you want to use the actual cannery it is suggested you go in groups of 4.
